Current Skin Care Routine

Skin care has really never been a huge concern for me- bless my momma and her fantastic skin genes. I hardly ever had acne in high school or even college. I was Blessed with a capital B when it came to my skin, and I am so thankful I never had to go through those horrible teen years with bad acne.

But now, at 27, I have the worst acne of my life. Now, keep in mind, my horrible acne is probably nothing compared to what a lot of you went through (or maybe still are going through), but to me, it’s like my face looks like a pepperoni pizza sometimes.

I think I would’ve rather had acne as a teen. At least at that point, I wouldn’t feel like a slight abnormality.

I’ve recently tried really hard to stick to a solid skin care routine, every morning and every night, with the same products to try and sort out this adult acne crap.

Anyone know of any cruelty-free acne skin care, shoot it my way, please! And you know preferably stuff that doesn’t cost half my electric bill. My wallet is unfortunately not that fat.

Morning Routine

Avalon Organics Intense Defense Cleansing Gel

Dickinson’s Pore Perfecting Toner

Acure Acne Spot Treatment

Everyday Coconut Face Cream (night formula)

Evening Routine

Avalon Organics Intense Defense Cleansing Gel

Dickinson’s Deep Cleaning Witch Hazel Astringent

Acure Acne Spot Treatment

Avalon Organics Intense Defense Facial Serum

(if my skin is feeling dry) Everyday Coconut Face Cream (night formula)

E.L.F. Lip Exfoliator in coconut

As you can see above, I use the same night formula face cream in the morning as well as at night. This is because I have yet to find a day cream that isn’t so thick it makes my skin break out in .5 seconds.

Remember that blessing of good skin? Yeah, it’s also super sensitive skin.

I’ve tried day creams from both Everyday Coconut and Avalon Organics but both are too thick for my skin. The Avalon Organics is a bit lighter than the EC one, but I can still only get away with using it once every other day or so.

I used plain old almond oil last winter, which worked out very well and never made me break out. I’ll probably start using it again once the cold weather really hits and my skin gets super dry, but I haven’t had to break my bottle out just yet. I’m all for more natural skin care whenever possible, but this acne is throwing me for a loop. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I also use an Acure facial scrub every other day or so, but of course, I forgot to grab it from my shower when I was taking these photos #bloggerfail.

Here’s a little bonus photo to show off my beauty of kitty. She wanted to help with the photo shoot and who am I to say no when she could be a freaking cat model??
