NaNoWriMo Update

Hello loves, how has life been treating you all?

I feel like I have spoken to you guys in forever, scheduled posts can do that to a blogger. But wow! I can’t believe it’s been a week since NaNoWriMo began! I had gotten more nervous than excited the few days before November hit but than the 1st rolled around and I jumped right into my novel writing like I had never been doing anything else.

And let me tell you. It feels amazing. The fact that I have characters and a story I really love, and really want to tell, obviously helps. But I was sitting here the other day and found myself wondering why I ever stopped writing. Why it had taken me this long to just sit down and write a book. I’m not naive, I know that writing is hard and that I’ll hit low points. It’s only a week into NaNo, so I’m sure I’ll hit that inevitable wall soon. But just starting every day with my laptop and my novel has made me feel so happy.

I know I’ve been talking a lot lately about excuses and following your dreams, but it’s so true. Don’t be like me and end up almost 30 and just realizing that the hobby you’ve loved your whole life is the career that you’ve been searching for. Following those dreams wherever they may take you. Be happy in who you are and know that everything will get figured out along the way.

One week in and I’ve hit the 20,000-word mark. Holy Hannah, that’s a lot of words. And a secret? My novel isn’t even half told. Maybe a quater…maybe. But then I had always sort of planned that the novel was going to be over the 50,000-word count of the NaNoWriMo challenge, so I’m not entirely surprised. Want another secret? This novel is going to be the first of a trilogy, or maybe a series. But definitely a trilogy. You’re feeling all in the loop now, aren’t you?

Well, there’s my little writing update for you, filled with a little advice to follow your dreams. I’m off to knock out some more words on this gloriously chilly day.

    1. I’ve been flying so far! Have had a couple days that I don’t get much done, be that because I’m just not feeling it that day or work, but I try to get a lot done on my days off. Good luck in week 2! And thanks for stopping by!
